ESAT SIANG DISTRICT, PASIGHAT, ARUNACHAL PRADESH
District Fisheries Development Officer is the head of the district, who shoulders the responsibility of the all round development of fisheries activities in the district. Different technical and non-technical staff assists him while implementing various fisheries schemes.
OBJECTIVE OF THE DEPARTMENT
Fisheries sector in this district plays an important role to uplift the rural economy and generate rural employment through various fisheries developmental programmes. The main aim and objectives of this sector is to implement the various subsidised schemes, to enhance fish and fish seed production.
INFORMATION ON DEPARTMENTAL PRESENT CENTRAL/ STATE SCHEMES/ TRAINING PROGRAMMES
Various schemes implemented under state / central schemes are mentioned below;
i. Rural Aquaculture Schemes
This is a subsidised scheme and rural people are assisted by giving 25% subsidy on Rs.3.00 lakh / ha for construction of new ponds / farm and 25% subsidy on Rs. 0.30 lakh / ha for procurement of inputs like fish seed, feed, manure etc. This scheme is taken under both state and central sponsorship.
ii. Paddy - Cum- Fish Culture
Under this scheme beneficiaries are assisted by giving 50% subsidy for development of paddy plots and procurement of fish seed toward new area. In case of existing area only fish seed is provided from the department on subsidised basis.
iii. Fish Farmers Training Programme
The main aim of this programme is to make the fish farmers aware of the latest technical know-how as per scientific method for high yielding.
iv. Improvement / Maintenance of Government Fish Farms
An Economically viable species which are cultured in ponds are riverine in character in the sense that they don’t breed in confined water. Hence supply of quality fish seed of required species is the first and foremost requirement of fish farming. Govt. fish seed farm, Pasighat and Pane-Koreng are the two Govt. farms in this district. Yearly maintenance is done for upkeepment of the farms to produce table fish and fish seed.
v.Fishermen Welfare Scheme
This is centrally sponsored and was introduced for welfare of fishermen / progressive fish farmers. Under this scheme each beneficiary is assisted with 50% of estimated cost of Rs.40000/- for construction of dwelling house of 35 sqm plinth area.
